Platysens is a start-up company focused on sports sensors and analysis. Founded by sport enthusiasts in 2014, our accurate sports sensors are designed to help athletes understand their performance. Our insightful analysis helps athletes reach a sense of achievement and further their enjoyment of sports. In 2016, we will launch our first products in swimming.
“To equip athletes with better tools to understand their performance”
What is in our name?
“Platysens” means Platypus + sense.
Platypus is a semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal from Australia. In its bill, there are tiny electroreceptors and mechanoreceptors, which allows it to catch its prey under water, even when the water is murky.
Inspired by this magnificent animal, we aim to use different senses to help athletics monitoring their movements.
We have been part of the in Incu-Tech Programme at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park since 2014. This is a 3-year incubation program designed to help startups with subsidized workspaces and support services. We can be found under the Incubatees in Programme list.
We have received funding from Hong Kong’s Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) as part of its Small Entrepreneur Research Assistance Programme (SERAP). These funds are used to support part of the research and development cost performed in some of our projects.
